June 2008

I make Sculpture, Paintings, Drawings and Mixed Media Works. I move between these mediums fluidly during the year, finding myself drawn to one or multiple dimensions because of imagery, what I need to say in the moment, or a desire to manipulate/play with different materials.

My work in Sculpture has been embedded with themes of fragility, loss and protection and transience. With simple everyday materials such as paper, wire, tissue, thread, cotton, wax, and plaster, I create works that have a quiet longing and sadness and refer to the body, its gesture, and its subtle narrative.

I also make Paintings and Works on Paper whose subjects are inspired from my time spent in the Natural world. Whether it's in the Venezuelan rainforest, where I've been spending several weeks every year for 20 years, or the expansive meadows and woods in the dairyland of Vermont, or the Atlantic seacoast, I feel profoundly, the visceral elements of tide, wind, and water, weather, and Nature's rich, teeming life, all around.
